COMMUNITY

Nestled in the heart of Central New York at the southern edge of the Tug Hill region is the picturesque Village of Camden. The friendly citizens and small town atmosphere makes the Camden area a wonderful place to raise a family. The beauty of the region stimulates the spirit of the community. The lakes, streams, forest, pure water, stable economic and political climate, as well as, its rich heritage, helps make Camden the Queen Village of Oneida County.

ATTRACTIONS

Forest Park — a 117 acre park & community resource

The 117 acre park is Camden's outstanding community resource and asset! Under the leadership of Lyndon Simmons, a lifelong Camden resident, and the Friends of Forest park, this 117 acre park is known for its miles of paved roads for walking, jogging and biking. Forest Park is a beautiful retreat for summer picnics, family reunions, bird watching or just peaceful meditation in the surroundings of small brooks, towering trees, ferns and wild flowers.

Camden Yards

"Camden Yards" began play on April 29, 1995. Certainly one of the many treasures of our community. This 14 acre, half million dollar sports complex, located within the village, features baseball fields complete with a press box, concession stand and a pavilion. The complex also offers a playground for children, basketball courts and a tennis court. The complex is owned by the Town of Camden and scheduled and maintained by Camden Little League.

Carriage House Museum

Founded in 1970 by the Queen Village Historical Society, the museum houses information and artifacts directly related to the history of Camden: its citizens, government, transportation, industry, business, church and social affairs, educational institutes and cultural activities. A recent addition to the museum is the Dibbletown Schoolhouse, the re-creation of a local one-room schoolhouse. The museum has become a valuable source of information for genealogists locally and nationwide.
